ESCP Europe Electric Vehicle Road Trip (EVRT) stops over in Zagreb for midway celebrations, bringing together regional clean transportation influencers in the industry

Zagreb, Croatia, May 4, 2017

The Global EVRT (Electric Vehicle Road Trip) team arrived in Zagreb for a celebration event at The Garden Brewery to share their European road trip experiences to date and the best of electric vehicle technology and innovation.

Two Tesla Model S’s (85 and 90D) and one Renault Zoe Long Range 400 recharged overnight in Zagreb after travelling 3,500 kms from London via Bordeaux, Madrid, Montpellier and Turin. The fleet will continue Friday to Berlin via Munich and Austria, and finish their European tour in Paris on the 9th May, accumulating a total of 6,500kms and over 100 recharges in total.

A visit to the DOK-ING factory and Rimac Global Headquarters followed, where the team were thrilled to see the very best of Croatian innovation firsthand. DOK-ING is a large Croatian producer of electric vehicles, specialising in unmanned multi-purpose vehicles and currently developing a small electric city car called the XD. Established in 1992, their mission is ‘Don’t send a man to do a machine’s job.

At Rimac Global Headquarters, the team was fortunate to learn about some of the latest technological innovations developing at the company, with a tour conducted by Aco Momcilovic and marketing assistant Marta Longin. Founded in 2009 by Mate Rimac, who won a national and county level of the competition of electrical engineers and innovators in 2006 at the age of only 18 years, Rimac Automobili produces high quality electric vehicles. The company developed and introduced car concept electric car Concept_One, first presented to the world public in 2011 in Frankfurt at the world's largest Automobile Exhibition.

The event at the Garden Brewery included a range of electric car enthusiasts, including Tesla Model X owner and entrepreneur Sasa Cvetojevic, and Igor Kolovrat, Founder of the Nicolas Tesla Rally. A meeting with the Andrew Dalgleish, British Ambassador to Croatia, and promoter of change to a lower carbon future, also took place. Andrew recently presented a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at The European Business Awards in Dubrovnik to founder and owner of DOK.ING, Vjekoslav Majetic.

Commenting on the Zagreb stopover, a key highlight of the Road Trip, Ben Pullen, Co-Founder and CEO and ESCP Europe Business School Alumnus said, “We were excited and attracted by the multitude of activities in the region, particularly from Rimac and DOK.ING who are innovating at the top end of the market and in a practical sense in the demining industry. The whole team all had a fantastic time learning about other areas of e-mobility and we all leave the country with even more knowledge to share.”

The tour continues to Munich on Friday May 5th for a pit stop, and further panel discussions in Berlin at the ESCP Europe Business school campus. Beyond Berlin there will be a highly anticipated visit to the Tesla Factory in Tilburg, Netherlands and a Grand Finale in Paris for the second E-Mobility conference.
